Before there was the Macbook Pro, there was the Powerbook G4. The name says it all: These were the powerhouse laptops of their day, and they are still very capable and fast machines when they run OS X 10.4. In fact, I have a Powerbook G4 from 2003 (5 Years old!!) that still runs fast and solid. In addition, it has a gorgeous 17" screen that is awesome for watching movies, and also getting work done with lots of windows open. If you want to give an Apple a whirl for a cheap price, I recommend checking out a Powerbook G4.
